Jewelry Care

Zancan jewelry is made with selected materials and craftsmanship: 925 silver, 18 kt gold, titanium, ceramic, natural stones, and precious gems. To maintain the brilliance, comfort, and quality of the finishes over time, it is important to follow some good practices for use and maintenance.
This guide will help you understand how to wear, clean, and store your Zancan jewelry correctly, respecting the materials and treatments used.

Daily tips for preserving your jewelry

Jewelry can be worn every day, but certain precautions will protect its surfaces and treatments:

  • avoid direct contact with perfumes, creams, cosmetics, and detergents
  • remove your jewelry before sports, gym, or manual work, especially if it involves impact or friction
  • avoid prolonged exposure to saunas, steam, and high temperatures
  • avoid contact with chlorine (swimming pool), thermal water, and chemicals
  • always dry the jewelry after sweating or contact with water

Important note: some types of perspiration (e.g., more acidic) can accelerate the wear of surface treatments such as PVD, rhodium plating, platinum plating, or decorative oxidation. This is a natural phenomenon linked to skin pH and style of use.

Water: can I wear my jewelry in the shower or at the beach?

Jewelry can come into contact with water, but it is not recommended to do so frequently.
Water, soaps, and detergents can:

  • reduce the shine of the finishes
  • affect surface treatments over time
  • dull stones and details

To best preserve your jewelry, we recommend removing it before showering, swimming in the sea, pool, or spa (especially due to the presence of salt and chlorine).

Cleaning: how to clean Zancan jewelry

Regular cleaning is sufficient to keep your jewelry beautiful over time.

Quick cleaning: use a soft, dry cloth to remove fingerprints and residue without scratching the surface.

More thorough cleaning: warm water and mild soap, a soft cloth or soft-bristled brush (only on smooth parts without delicate finishes), rinse thoroughly and dry completely before storing the jewelry.

Avoid:

  • abrasive products
  • aggressive detergents
  • alcohol, ammonia, or solvents
  • domestic ultrasonic cleaners (especially if the jewelry has stones or settings)

Care based on materials and finishes

925 silver
Silver can oxidize naturally when exposed to air and moisture: this is a normal process.
To keep it shiny:

  • clean with a soft cloth
  • store away from moisture
  • avoid contact with perfumes and cosmetics

Silver with natural stones: we recommend even more delicate cleaning (warm water + mild soap and immediate drying).

18 kt gold and gemstones
18 kt gold jewelry may include white, black, or brown diamonds, as well as sapphires and rubies.
To keep them in perfect condition:

  • avoid knocks (especially on shiny surfaces and settings)
  • clean with lukewarm water and mild soap
  • always dry with a soft cloth

Stones can lose their shine due to cream/soap residue: regular cleaning preserves their brightness.

Titanium
Titanium is lightweight and durable, ideal for everyday use.
To preserve the finish:

  • avoid contact with abrasive surfaces
  • clean with a soft cloth and warm water
  • dry thoroughly

Ceramic
Ceramic is highly scratch-resistant, but can be damaged by violent impacts.
Tips:

  • avoid drops and impacts
  • clean with a soft cloth (even slightly damp)
  • do not use abrasive pastes

Treatments: rhodium plating, platinum plating, PVD, oxidation

Some Zancan jewelry features treatments designed to enhance the aesthetics and identity of the product:

  • Rhodium plating and platinum plating: increase shine and surface protection
  • PVD: gives color and specific resistance to certain models
  • Oxidation (e.g., Vintage collection): decorative treatment that creates contrast and depth

These treatments may evolve over time depending on:

  • frequency of use
  • friction
  • sweating/skin pH
  • contact with chemicals

To preserve the original effect:

  • avoid swimming pools/chlorine, saunas, perfumes, and cosmetics
  • clean with gentle methods
  • store the jewelry correctly

Storage: how to store your jewelry correctly

Proper storage reduces scratches and oxidation:

  • store each piece of jewelry separately
  • store it in the Zancan box or in a soft case
  • avoid humid environments (e.g., bathrooms)
  • do not leave jewelry exposed to direct light or heat sources
